2018 CNY Bake - CSH Clover Savoury House

It's again once a year, a Chinese New Year. It's my favourite festival of the year, not because of the Ang Pao (of course), but because of the tradition and memories.

I am scared to count how many cycles I have been through this zodiac animals thingy, how many years of fengshui I have been following.

Aside from these, yes I love to bake for CNY. I am always following the bakers' trend from what they are baking and I am so interested to see what they bake. This year I bake doggy figurine pineapple balls and  German cookie in doggy shape. So far this is it and I will continue to bake other stuffs. I am already late.

Metta's birthday party on Valentine's Day



A closer view on the birthday party after our 人日 celebration. She mentioned that it's also 金金, the fish's birthday because the fish is a CNY fish which falls on Feb (this year). They are cutting the cake together.
 

7th day of CNY, 人日, Metta's birthday and Velentine's Day

大年初七人日,西方情人节, Metta 生日。三喜临门的庆贺。

Bought mango mousse cake again this year (forgot that we also bought
mango mousse last year...) for her birthday celebration.

Metta received Ang Bao from popo for her birthday
Metta and me received rose for Valentine's Day from papa.
We had a heartful teppanyaki cum steamboat at home today.

It was so fun!

1st and 2nd day of CNY 2016

Chinese New Year Eve, 1st and 2nd day of CNY 2016, it's always eat and eat.

KL was able to play Nerf gun with the cousins after 1 year. It's always
yearly affair, feeling crazy...
Metta was able to play with Krystelle's hamsters. They were so cute!
Mandy and I were munching away with the CNY cookies, oh mine... 先享受,
后想瘦, 真是的!

2nd day of CNY. went IKEA to avoid the crowd on usual day and enjoy the
food in IKEA without people standing next to you waitying for your table.
KL was munching away in popo house after IKEA.
Popo was angry because he hide chocolate and sweet wrappers under her
pillow. "Sweet dream" hahaha LOL..

Making Teochew mooncakes this year 2015


I have always wanted to learn how to make Teochew mooncake with the flaky skin. Finally I tried my hands on them. The making process was quite laborious but fun too. This year my boy helped with the making.

Check these out. These are Teochew pumpkin mooncakes. (I did not attempt the Yam filling because I have a large pumpkin at home and I wanted to finish up all the pumpkin).

First Sambal ikan bilis

First time making Sambal Ikan Bilis Chilli after trying the one made by GM-TCM boss.

No recipe to follow, I just taste and look at the one I tasted, then cook my own from bottled sambal chilli, shortcut method lolx.

To prepare the ikan bilis:
1) Wash, clean and using paper to pat dry ikan bilies
2) Spray some oil  on the af pan and put ikan bilis in the pan.
3) Spray some oil ion the ikan bilis and give it a good toss lightly to coat  with some oil
4) AF at 200 deg C for 15 mins
5) At 5 mins intervals, open and check crispiness, then stir lightly with thongs
6) When done, it will be crispy. Remove and cool on plate

To fry sambal ikan billies:
1) Sliced some onions
2) Put oil in pan and heat oil
3) Fry onion till soft (but not brown)
4) Add in 2 tbsps of Singlong sambal chilli
5) Add in 1 tbsp of "Hebi-Hiam" (Optional, if you don't have)
(My mum bought this dried hebi-hiam from BKK)
6) Stir fried abit and add in water to dilute
7) Add in a small pack of white sugar (About 1 tbsp)
8) Stir till sugar melt and water is abit dried up (but not too dry)
9) Done and serve
