Tanglin Halt,

中秋 at Holland

It's Lunar Eight month of the15th, mid-autumn festival or the lantern festival.

At the block of my mum's place, the residents had a mid-autumn celebration.

It's the 1st time Le Le and Bao Bao celebrate the festival at this gathering organised by the residents. It's really wonderful and very nice feeling. The reason probably because I grow up here and I remember how my parents bring us to attend the same festval when my brothers and me were at my kids' age.

Although it was drizzling alittle, but soon the drizzling stops.

The resident committee starts to distribute lanterns and ice cream to kids. Following that the residents had Karaoke and buffets.

LeLe and Bao Bao play fireworks with some kids while we waited for lucky draw, so lucky enough, we got ourselves Mickey Mouse colouring book and Cars pencil case set for the kids.

It was really a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival this year!

Penang Food

We went Penang from 5 - 7 Sep and we are back!

Penang is really a nice place, almost 60% of Chinese despite being in Malaysia. Then the food were really nice. I wouldn't say super good, but would say, even the more lousy one is as good as those standard one in Singapore.

Weather was really hot, perhaps going at the wrong time. However it really depends on how we think of it. At least it was not wet day which we could not explore anywhere, so we should rally be grateful for the sun.

OK, for now we pend the places. I would like to post some pictures of Penang food which we had tasted over these 3 days. Actually we tasted alot but not every meal with photos coz too greedy for food and forgot about pictures.

1) In Gurney - Food we tasted: Wan Tan Noodle, Muar Chee, Chee Cheong Fun, Rojak, Fried Kuey Tiao (with and without chilli), Prawn Noodle, Asam Laksa, Sugarcane Juice with Lime, Nutmeg Juice & Chin Chow (no photo)

2) In Batu Ferringhi (I forgot the food centre name) - Food we tasted: Fried Hor Fun Bee Hoon, Fried Kuey Tiao, Satay, Nutmeg Juice (no photo, forget)

3) In Air Itam (at the foot of Kek Lok Si) - Food we tasted: Asam Laksa (I think it's really best, if we compare the Asam laksa in Gurney..), Sugarcane juice, fried popiah, fishball

4) In Georgetown (New World Park) - Food we tasted: Fried Oyster, Curry Noodle, Bak Chang, Yam cake, Ice Kacang (no photo, forget), Starfruit Juice, Peanut-Corn Pancake (no photo)

Food are really good and alot more to eat but watch out for bellies :-( OMG!

Hortpark - some icons

I really like Hortpark and always cannot finish strolling the whole park despite many trips to the park!

Really like the "floral and fauna" feel (even though not so much of fauna). Of course and also picture taking, I took alot of pictures there, but difficult to share all on blog.

Here are a few.

Hope you feel the sun-shining day too.

Hortpark - 23Aug09

"Let's charge!"

Hi, we are in Jurassic Park!

How we celebrate "Teacher's day"

What a picnic day on 1 Sep!

I was on leave since YH is not working so we decided to go for picnic at Sentosa.

We decided to pitch tent since we expect a few hours picnic and sand play for the kids.

It was a hot sunny morning then, we started to pitch and within 5 mins, as soon as we finished pitching and move our things into the tent, the sky turns dark and very strong wind started to blow. Downpour came almost immediately, it was like storm.

Not long, the heavy rain flooded our tent and drenched our mood. We begin to open up umbrellas inside the tent - silly,  but really helps. Unfortunately our tent is TOTALLY flooded. We start using our towels (and fortunately we have that) to soak up the water inside. All of us starts soaking and twisting the towel into the pail which the kids suppose to use them for sand play. AND now instead of sand play, it becomes water play. The kids begin to scoop water into the pail. We pour out our tent at least 10 small pails of water I guess,

Everyone is so tired and totally drenched after almost an hour of continous soaking and pouring, can you imagine how heavy is the rain?! Well but we still continue with our picnic after that 1 hour of heavy downpour when the rain is weaker.

As soon as we finished our picnic, we start to pack up and go before the rain come again.

What a picnic day!

PS.. One of the pole completely broke into 2 by the strong wind. We cannot use our tent anymore, really sad...
